PORTFOLIO: Commercials

This page features television commercial projects I've been involved in as a professional pre-visualization shot creator and 3D animator since 2020, presenting both the final versions and breakdowns.

Energizer® Ultimate Lithium Hare Raising

In 2022, The Third Floor (TTF) collaborated with The Mill on the Energizer® Bunny TV commercials. As part of the pre-visualization team, I was responsible for character and camera animation, as well as adjusting lighting, under the guidance of TTF supervisor, Sophia Yu. This commercial was aired internationally via TV and Youtube.

Hess Toy Truck: The 2020 Ambulance and Rescue is here! (2020)

At the end of my 3D animation internship at MAKE in 2020, I helped animate the background children characters for the last two pre-visualization shots of the commercial (0:12 - 0:17). It aired internationally on Christmas Day via TV and Youtube.

Hess Toy Truck: The 2020 Ambulance and Rescue is here! | Pre-visualization Breakdown

Visualization work is produced under NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) to protect the confidentiality of the client's content. This breakdown video features both the final version and pre-visualization shots that I helped the team to create as a 3D animator for Hess Toy Truck: The 2020 Ambulance and Rescue is here! Due to the Release of Footage Agreement, the breakdown video is required to be password-protected. To request the password, please email don.m.kim.artist@gmail.com.

The Rubik's Perplexus Hybrid 2x2! (2020)

This project represents my initial significant role at MAKE studio, which was released to the public in 2020. Responsibilities included layout, 2D & 3D animation and camera work. Specifically, I created the opening shot (0:00 - 0:10) and the 2D logo animation at the end of this commercial. This commercial was aired internationally via TV (in the US, Canada, and France) and YouTube.

Microsoft Surface Duo (2020)

The 3D team at MAKE developed VFX shots based on the concepts and style frames provided by the client, Microsoft. As an 3D animation intern, I had the opportunity to handle one of the shots. I was responsible for modeling, texturing, layout, animation, camera work and butterfly FX, using 3DsMax and TyFlow for the first time. Unfortunately, due to changes in the client's vision, these shots did not make it into the final version.

Microsoft Surface Duo (2020): Initial Concept

Pre-production work is produced under NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) to protect the confidentiality of the client's content. This video presents the initial concept that I developed as a 3D animator for a Microsoft Surface Duo. Due to the Release of Footage Agreement, the behind-the-scenes video is required to be password-protected. To request the password, please email don.m.kim.artist@gmail.com.
