Ctrl-Z: Undo Your Real Life — AI Commercial
I had the opportunity to take an AI Script to Screen class at Studio Arts taught by Jason Rose, where we created a 30-second commercial using various AI tools throughout the pipeline.
For my project, I developed a sci-fi concept about a smartwatch that can “undo” reality and bring you back 30 seconds in time. The process involved brainstorming and scripting with ChatGPT, generating key images in Midjourney, creating shots in Runway, editing in DaVinci Resolve, and using ElevenLabs for dialogue, sound, and lip-sync.
The biggest challenge was maintaining character and prop consistency across shots. AI tools still struggle with continuity, precision, and control, so a large part of the process became iteration, troubleshooting, and finding workarounds. I also used Photoshop to adjust and composite certain images manually, especially for the watch design, since it kept changing between generations.
This was my first AI commercial experiment, and while there are still details I would refine further, I would consider this version complete and move on. The project gave me a better understanding of how these tools can fit into an existing creative workflow.
